 Diet: Invertebrates, esp earthworms, cranefly larvae (inland) crustaceans, molluscs, marine worms (estuaries)
 Tit Bit: On coastal marshes this is usually the first bird to be disturbed, flying off with a noisy cry – giving rise to the name ‘sentinel of the marsh’.
